TRAVEL TIPS

Visitor Information

The Grand Central Partnership (a business-improvement district) operates a number of information kiosks in and around Grand Central Terminal. They're loaded with maps and helpful brochures on attractions throughout the city and staffed by friendly, knowledgeable, multilingual New Yorkers.

NYC & Company runs Official NYC Information Centers at Macy's Herald Square as well as in Lower Manhattan at City Hall Park and the South Street Seaport. Its official visitor guide and map, both downloadable from NYC & Company's website as well as in hard copies available around town, are both very useful.

The Downtown Alliance has information on the area encompassing City Hall south to Battery Park, and from the East River to West Street; the Times Square Alliance covers the Times Square area. For a free booklet listing New York State and New York City attractions and tour packages, contact the New York State Division of Tourism.
