Black American West Museum and Cultural Center
The revealing documents and artifacts here depict the vast contributions that African Americans made to opening up the West. Nearly a third of the cowboys and many pioneer teachers and doctors were African Americans. One floor is devoted to black cowboys; another to military troops, including the Buffalo Soldiers. Changing exhibits focus on topics such as the history of black churches in the West.
